23 - Nov - 2010: PhD Thesis Defense of Zahid Halim
Zahid Halim defended his thesis titled "Measuring Entertainmet and Automatic generation of Entertaining Games" on November 23rd, 2010. Professor Dr. Abdul Rauf Baig was his supervisor. His thesis was reviewed by two international reviewers namely: Dr. Sungyoung Lee of South Korea and Dr. Stephan Winkler of Austria. The examination panel for thesis defense comprised of two externals: Dr. Jamil Ahmad of Iqra University and Dr. Asifullah Khan of PINSTECH/PIEAS. The panel unanimously decided to recommend that the student be awarded the degree of PhD(CS). The thesis defense was attended by faculty, management and students of the university.
09 - Oct - 2010: PhD Thesis Defense of Kashif Zafar
Kashif Zafar defended his thesis titled "Optimization of Route Planning for Dynamic Environments Using Swarm Intelligence" on October 09th, 2010. Professor Dr. Abdul Rauf Baig was his supervisor. His thesis was reviewed by two international reviewers namely: Dr. Keith Harrow of USA and Dr. Colin Flanagan of Ireland. The examination panel for thesis defense comprised of two externals: Dr. Muhammad Sher of International Islamic University and Dr. Majid Khan of PINSTECH/PIEAS. The panel unanimously decided to recommend that the student be awarded the degree of PhD(CS). The thesis defense was attended by faculty, management and students of the university.
25 - Sept - 2010: PhD Thesis Defense of Waseem Shahzad
Waseem Shahzad defended his thesis titled "Classification and Associative Classification Rule Discovery Using Ant Colony Optimization" on September 25th, 2010. Professor Dr. Abdul Rauf Baig was his supervisor. His thesis was reviewed by two international reviewers namely: Dr. Kendall of UK and Dr. Choi of South Korea. The examination panel for thesis defense comprised of two externals: Dr. Muhammad Sher of International Islamic University and Dr. Asmatullah Chaudhary of PINSTECH/PIEAS. The panel unanimously decided to recommend that the student be awarded the degree of PhD(CS). The thesis defense was attended by faculty, management and students of the university.
20 - Sept - 2010: PhD Thesis Defense of Hasan Mujtaba
Hasan Mujtaba defended his thesis titled "Learning to Learn: An Automated and Continuous Approach to Learning in Imperfect Environments" on September 20th, 2010. Professor Dr. Abdul Rauf Baig was his supervisor. The student has spent 6 months from January to June 2010 working under the supervision of Dr. Kendall at Nottingham University, UK. The thesis defense of Hasan Mujtaba went well. His thesis was reviewed by two international reviewers namely: Dr. Winkler of Austria and Dr. Flanagan of Ireland. Dr. Arif of Air university and Dr. Asmatullah Khan of PIEAS/PINSTECH were the external examiners. The examination panel was particularly impressed by the student's publications in high quality journals. The thesis defense was attended by faculty, management and students of the university.
28 - Aug - 2010: PhD Thesis Defense of Hajira Jabeen
Hajira Jabeen successfully defended her thesis titled “Advancements in Genetic Programming for Data Classification” on August 28, 2010. Professor Dr. Abdul Rauf Baig was her supervisor. Hajira Jabeen has published several papers in ISI indexed journals and reputed international conferences. Dr. Michael Affenzeller, Upper Austria University of Applied Sciences, Hagenberg, Austria, and Dr. Colin Flanagan, University of Limerick, Ireland were the international reviewers. Dr. Asifullah Khan, Associate Professor PIEAS, Dr. Aamer Nadeem, Associate Professor, MAJU, and Dr. Anwar Majid Mirza, Professor, FAST-NUCES were the examiners. Her public defense was attended by faculty, management and students of the university. She is the first female PhD from FAST-NUCES.
21 - Aug - 2010: PhD Thesis Defense of Muhammad Amjad Iqbal
Mohammad Amjad Iqbal successfully defended his thesis titled “Function Optimization and Clustering Using Computational Intelligence Techniques” on August 21, 2010. Professor Dr. Abdul Rauf Baig was his supervisor. Mohammad Amjad Iqbal has published three papers in ISI indexed journals with a total impact factor of around 8.85 and several papers in reputed international conferences. Dr. Stephan Wrinkler, Upper Austria University of Applied Sciences, Hagenberg, Austria, and Dr. Ho-Jin Choi, Korean Advanced Institute of Technology were the international reviewers. Dr. Malik Sikander Hayat Khiyal, Professor Fatima Jinnah Women University, Dr. Shaukat Iqbal, Principal Scientist, PINSTECH, and Dr. Anwar Majid Mirza, Professor, FAST-NUCES were the examiners. His public defense was attended by faculty, management and students of the university.
11 - Feb - 2010: PhD Thesis Defense of Muhammad Rashid
Mohammad Rashid successfully defended his thesis titled “Combining PSO Algorithm and Honey Bee Food Foraging Behavior for Solving Multimodal and Dynamic Optimization Problems” on February 11, 2010. Professor Dr. Abdul Rauf Baig was his supervisor. Mohammad Rashid has published one paper in an ISI indexed journal with an impact factor of 2.791 and six papers in reputed international conferences. Dr. Rauber, Technical University Vienna, Austria, Dr. Choi, Korean Advanced Institute of Technology, and Dr. Yang, National University, Taiwan were the international reviewers. Dr. Mehboob Yasin, Director Distance Learning Program, COMSATS, Dr. Afzal Bhatti, Chairman Department of Computer Science, Quaid-e-Azam University, and Dr. Anwar Majid Mirza, Head Department of Computer Science, FAST-NUCES were the examiners. His public defense was attended by faculty, management and students of the university.
